Welcome to the Watsontown Police Department Web Site!

The Watsontown Police Department is a full-time police department, consisting of 5 full-time Police Officers and 5 part-time Police Officers.  There is always at least 1 officer, sometimes more, on duty... 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The Watsontown Police Department serves the residents of the Borough of Watsontown, which is located in far northern Northumberland County in the north-central portion of Pennsylvania.  The Borough encompasses about .9 square miles, and has a population of around 2,300.

The best way to reach us is through our dispatch center.  If you need immediate police assistance, call 911.  If you need to talk to an officer but there is no emergency, call (570)742-8771.  The dispatcher will get your information and contact the officer on duty.

Forms required to be completed in order to apply for the position of Police Officer are available at the Watsontown Borough Building, 318 Main St, Watsontown, PA 17777.  The Borough office is open Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm.  Call 570-538-1000 if you have any questions.  The required forms to be completed in order to apply for the position of Police Officer are also available on-line at www.watsontownpolice.com by going to the contact us & links page and then choose the Police Officer application.  Completed applications may be mailed to the address above or dropped off in person.

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE BOROUGH MANAGER'S OFFICE DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS BY TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2015.

General qualifications for the position of police officer at the time of application are:

1.  Citizen of the United States, or evidence to show naturalization as a USA citizen
2.  Twenty-one (21) years of age or older at the time of application
3.  Graduated from an accredited high school / Possess a valid General Education (Equivalency) Diploma, or GED
4.  Successfully completed Act 120 (Municipal Police Officer's Education and Training) training
5.  Shall be physically, medically and psychologically fit
6.  Licensed to operate an automobile in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7.  Must be able to meet the essential duties as listed on the Police Officer application

Applicants permanently appointed shall within 26 weeks of employment maintain a full-time residence within 12 miles of the Borough of Watsontown, Northumberland County.

Applicants who meet the requirements will be notified in writing of the next step in the examination process.
